The Australian Cymbidium Society Inc, ACS is an organization that represents Cymbidium Orchid Clubs in three states of Australia being South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

Its aim is to promote the growing and showing of cymbidiums and, especially the hybridizing of new material that is produced in Australia. It helps to organize a National Cymbidium show usually between July and September with the three states taking a turn in hosting it by rotation. Since these shows have been very successful in showing the best cymbidiums there are in Australia, visitors from many overseas countries come to it.

Further promotion of the best new hybrids in Australia occurs with the Sage Horticultural Winners. Each state chooses their best winners in the following categories for the year: standard, small standard, intermediate, miniature and novelty and the best of these become the overall winner for that year.

There is also a judging and award system to appreciate good qualities in a cymbidium. The ACS has its own judging standards and rules. Approximately 10 to 20 orchids per year are awarded an ACS award with the majority occurring at a national show.

The Cymbidium Society of Australia has also been active in the publishing of interesting orchids on cymbidiums in conjunction with the Australian Orchid Review. Due to the loss of our editor this has ceased at the moment, but hopefully we will see the publication of cymbidium articles soon in some format in the future.

The ACS is also involved in providing information and encouraging new members to join their relative state club.
